The Notebook

l recommend to you  the movie, "The Notebook". The genre of this movie is remance. It is a sweet movie that you can remember the first love. It is based on true story. Contry boy and city girl met by chance in an amusement park. Her name is Ellen, and his name is Noa. And at the moment he first saw her, he fell in love. But she did not. Because of his aggressive behavior,she opened gradually her mind. So they fell deeply in love. They loved really beautiful. But they were followed by many hardship because they are many different. Eventually they broke up and lived away. They thought of the good old days, and  sincerely hope each other. This movie discribe well these story. It touched me deeply and give me a calm feeling. After seeing this movie, l sometime thought "A love like this is really exist?". It is the best movie in my life. I want that you see "The Notebook",and  feel like me.





 

Apocalypto, 2006

The genre of this movie is an action, thriller and drama. When the Mayan Civilization is prosperous, a man who is a young warrior of tribal society lives happily with his family. He is a son of patriarch, so will lead the village in the future. He is a young but wise and strong man because he escapes the danger by his wit and has strong fighting strength.

One day, hunting animals for a parturient wife, his little boy and tribe living together, he and his companions are warned by a frightened outsider to beware of invaders. After coming back home, he eats tasty food and has a good time with the tribe, but in next morning the invaders composed of cruel warriors make an attack on the tribe, slaughter them, and walk   young people off by force to their kingdom. When he also is taken hostage, his wife and son are hiding in a deep well. Sadly, he loses many friends while he goes to the kingdom. He arrives at the kingdom, then women are sold into slavery and men are offered as a sacrifice to a god. When he is about to be offered as a sacrifice, a total solar eclipse suddenly takes place in the sky. He manages to escape from the kingdom, but he kills a son of invader’s head in the process. The invaders pursue him on the run. Unfortunately, when it’s started raining, his wife raises their son on her neck and she feels contraction in the deep well.

 

This movie is very interesting, but I think it’s very unfortunate that primitive tribes should confront large civilizations. Something similar still happens in every corner of the world.    

Anyway I like watching thriller movies, so I would like to recommend this movie to person who likes to watch thriller or horror movie.

'The Front Line(고지전)'

     Do you know the Korean war, one of the most national tragic event? I want to recommend 'The Front Line(고지전)', which is war and drama genre movie. This movie is based on a true story. Toward the end of the Korean war, north Korea and south Korea fought to take more land before the truce. Numerous soldiers were killed at the eastern front. But then, a company commander of south Korea who died from  a bullet wound was found and the bullet was south Korea's. The superior authority  thought that someone was in league with the enemy. So they sent a lieutenant, 'Kang Eunpyo(신하균)', to the eastern front. Eunpyo met 'Soohyeok(고수)' at there. They had known each other before. Soohyeok had been very weak and timid. But, when Eunpyo met him again, he changed completely. He became a strong and charismatic lieutenant. The atmosphere of the troop was so strange. The unit members were lazy and the captain was too young. That didn't match the reputation of the troop. The owner of a front line hill changed continuously. During a continuous war, Eunpyo realized a secret of the troop and true nature of the war....
If you watch this movie, you will feel a sadness of the war and be deeply impressed!

Interesting movie - Sunny

   I introduce the korea movie, ‘Sunny’. The movie genre is comedy ,drama and a touching story. So to speak, when it was 1980’s, this movie depicted seven of girl made friendships and faint memories. Main character is Nami, who speaks with a Jeolla-do accent. She was transfer to seoul and became a laughing stock because of hers dialect and naive, but six of remarkable friends helped her. After that, they were a good friend. One day, they were ready to participate in their school talent show. In that scene, the girls practiced a cute dance to the ‘boney M-sunny’. This song more occurs the homesick of 70’s and 80’s. Anyway, they named their team sunny and prepared the lively dance. However, sunny's member Suji suddenly seriously hurt so that they weren't show the performance. After that day, they were scattered during 25 year. Nami missed that shine brightly schoolage and looked for sunny members.

   Sunny moves my heart, also my mother father age. My mother said, "I feel sympathy." I think the movie has a healing effect. Although the background is not 2000's, I can imagine a feeling of those day. If you aren't see the movie, I suggest that you watch the film with a light heart.

 

MOVIE 'Jiseul'

A month ago, a meaningful movie was released. Its title, ‘Jiseul - Requiem for the dead and the living’, is composed of Jeju dialect. Jiseul means potato in Jeju dialect. Jiseul deals with Jeju 4.3 Affair. 4.3 Affair was the public resistance happened in Jeju from 1428/4/3 to 1954/9/21. This movie focused on sacrifice of innocent people irrelevant to any ideology or politics. Jiseul is made up of four chapters related to ancestral rites. It means the ancestral rite for the innocent victims.  The movie doesn’t have any well-known actor or actress. Because of unknown casts, I can feel as if they are really local residents. A conflict between residents and government started with incident that the child got kicked by horse set a police on. However police totally disregard this accident. So residents protest against the government. The affair became serious coincided with other political events. Jeju residents flee to a cave and all they had for foodstuffs in potato. In the dark cave, refugee supported themselves full of anxiety. The movie implies that Jeju 4.3 Affair was a tragedy. After the end of the movie, audiences’ hearts ache with sympathy for the innocent people. Still now, many people don’t know in detail about Jeju 4.3 Affair but I want more people realize the truth of the affair.

Vanilla Sky

I want to recommend a american movie, “Vanilla Sky”, which is SF, mistery and romance genre. I guess students in our class would not have seen the movie because it was released in 2001.

David Aames (Tom Cruise) is the wealthy owner of a large publishing firm in New York City. He have a girlfriend, Julianna "Julie" Gianni (Cameron Diaz), but he is introduced to Sofia Serrano (Penélope Cruz) by his best friend at a party. Then David and Sofia fall in love. When Julie know the fact, she attempts to kill herself and David in a car crash.

While Julie dies, David remains alive, but his face is horribly disfigured. he gets drunk at a bar with Sofia, and he is left in the street. David is awakened the next day by Sofia, and they continue to have a relationship. After that, David has his face repaired, but strange things begin to happen such as brief visions of his distorted face and showing Julie's face instead of Sofia’s face.

It was a little bit difficult for me to understand because there is a incredible reversal in the movie. If you know the reversal, You would be surprised and could gain enlightenment.

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN -- Chaeyeon

     I introduce you impressive movie. The movie title is <Kingdom of heaven> This movie is really moving so i recommend you sufficiently. The movie main character is Balian(발리안) that is young French blacksmith. He lost both his wife and young son at the same time because of war. When he fell into despair, his father that is Jerusalem's knight visited him. Balian headed toward the Holy Land of Jerusalem. After his father died, Balian got the king of Jerusalem's confidence. Because, he had great fencing skill and gallantry. And he fell in love with princess Silvia(실비아). But Silvia had infamous and violent husband. So, Balian gave up his love. Because, he thought that honor is more important than life so he didn't can steal other person's wife. But princess Silvia's husband was so angry for Balian and Silvia. Finally, he rose up in great war. Balian took part in a enormous battle so that he defend the country and love against the enemy. This movie is magnificent spectacle. If you love this attraction you are satisfied with the movie. If you watch the movie <Kingdom of heaven>, you fall for Balian's courage and belief. In short, this movie tells us beautiful and pure soul.

'Constantine'

I recommend this movie, Constantine. This movie's story is about mixed angel,mixed devil and human, main character. Main character, John Constantine have special ability to distinguish human and angel or devil that do human's look. At first, he hates his ability, but later adapts to his fate that fight mixed angel and devil.While he fights them, a womam visits him and ask to investigate something. During investigation, he runs into danger. This is a main conflict of the movie. 'Constantine' is action, thriller and fantasy movie. I think it was very attractive, so I focused on watching it.

'Letters to juliet' - romantic love story

The movie I'm going to talk about is Letter to Juliet. I enjoyed watching this movie a few years back. The movie's genre is a romantic comedy. The main characters are Sophie, Claire, and Charlie. Sophie wants to be a author. she is engaged to Victor and leaves on a trip to Verona in Italy. Sophie tours the city without Victor. one day, she found one letter between walls in the street which is called [Juliet’s House]. (if you want the answer from lover, put the letter in this street. and Juliet will be answered.)

The content is that old woman hope to meet her first love before 50 years ago.

The letter was written by Claire to a man explaining why she had to leave her lover. After reading the letter, Sophie write back to Claire. Soon after, Claire and her grandson Charlie come to Verona. Together with Sophie, they go searching for Claire's lover from fifty years back. After i watched the movie named "letters to juliet", I really want to go to Italy.

I was all touched by their love. if you want to see a sweet movie like chocolate, i highly recommend it.  I will visit Juliet's house in Verona when I have a chance to go to Italy

Parents' day recommend movie: together.

  In may, there are many anniversary about family like Children's day, parents' day etc... Therefore I recommend chinese movie 'together'. It is very moved movie about family and you can listen beautiful violin. It is little old movie released at 2002, but It doesn't bored.

 

   Liucheng was poor widower live in the country. He had a son who has great talent with violin. Liucheng was proud of his talent, and he wanted to educate son(Xiaochen) more good environment. He decided to move Beijng. Living big city was difficult for them. The city was busy, crowd and expensive, but father worked hard to earn the money and Xiaochen learned hard new teacher. Xiaochen participated in the violin contest. Although he performed great, he couldn't win the prize. Because they didn't give a bribe to examiners. Liucheng heard this, so he asked professor who was the examiner to be teacher his son. The professor was an eccentric person. He said to Xiaochen. "For performance, you throw your emotion" After changing a teacher, the son rebelled her father. He thought his father just want success. To make matters worse, Xiaochen noticed Liucheng was not real father. One day, the professor said Liucheng that he didn't helpXiaochen , because he was poor and ignorant. He agreed that opinion, so he determined to leave Beijing. The climax of this movie is here. Xiaochen heard this, but that day was important contest day. He was caught between contest and father.

  The most famous and touching scene is ending scene, so I can't explain. However It was really good. The actor who performed Xiaochen is real famous violinist. He is active as a violinist as before. Every OST was performed by him. You can see nice movie an d heard good music at once. The first scene of this movie is a baby beside the violin left on the subway. This movie will be make you think about real love of family.

Introducing the movie

Movie name: Hwa Cha (화차/火車)

           In the first scene in the movie which I want to explain, a man and a woman appeared in the screen. The man’s job is a veterinarian and the woman is the man’s fiancée. They planned marry and lived in the same house. On their way to go to see the man’s family, they stopped at the expressway rest area. Man went to the store to buy some food and man’s cell phone rang, so she answered the phone. Woman looked like nervous. When he came back to the car, his fiancée disappeared. So he came back to his house and tried to find her, but there is no trace of her. She left the house with all her stuff. Man surprised a lot and tried to find her in every way. In the process of searching, he knew that all the information about her was not her information. Age and name were not her real age and name. With help of the his cousin who worked as police, he tried to know all the truth and finally found that many affairs were tangled. His fiancée still attempted to make another incident after she left him. However, he accidently saw through her design, so he went to the place where he can meet her and finally they encounter in the train station.

 

 You can imagine both bad and happy ending.

This movie is not action movie but i can't take my eyes off because its contents are so interesting. If you have time to see movie in the home, this movie could make you satisfied. :)

The devil wears Prada. 1315897 Kim Ryun Kyung.

 I will recommend a movie named "The devil wears Prada." In New York, Andrea Sachs, the simple and innocent girl who just-graduated in journalism, is hired to work as the second assistant of the powerful and sophisticated Miranda Priestly. Andrea worked at the ruthless and merciless executive of the Runway fashion magazine company. Andrea dreams to become a journalist and faces the opportunity as a temporary professional challenge. At first time Andrea always makes trouble and Boss doesn't like her working ways. One day Andrea doesn't reserve a airplane ticket, so the boss miss a important work. Finally The first assistant Emily advises Andrea about the behavior and preferences of their cruel boss, and the stylist Nigel helps Andrea to dress more adequately for the environment. Andrea changes her attitude and behavior, affecting her private life and the relationship with her boyfriend Nate, her family and friends in bad ways.

Movie review-"Stardust"

             When i was a middle school student, i used to write reviews in cyworld after i saw the movies. So i decided to recommend one of the movies in my reviews. That is the beautiful fantasy story, "Stardust". Because i am not sure that you have seen it, i will introduce it, briefly. Stardust's background is 'Stormhold(스톰홀드)'. This is the magic territory over the fence of the human world. The main character are 'Tristan(트리스탄)' and 'Yvain(이베인)', also princes and 3 witches appear the movie. Ahead of the movie, a man climbed over a wall dividing the magic territory and the human world because of curiosity. He met an woman there and fell in love, after he returned his home, he received a baby. The baby is 'Tristan'. Years later, 'Tristan' saw the star and said "I will bring that star to you." for his one sided lover. So he jumped over the wall like his father. However the star wasn't general stars. The fallen star was the woman('Yvain'), and the person getting its heart had eternal life and youth. Also the person getting the star woman’s necklace could become king of Stormhold. For these reasons, 3 witches and princes was looking for 'Yvain', too. Tristan found Yvain, first. The story go along with fighting and endangering each other.

Interesting settings of this movie are that new world existed alongside the human world. Also i was interested in the setting about stars. After I saw the movie, I imagined that ‘is there the magic world in my town, too?’, and ‘if really stars are human shape, and they are watching the human world.... wow that was very interesting :).’

Finding information of ‘Stardust’, I thought I will see it, again. If you are interested in it, I want to see the movie. This movie will send you to new world like a fairy tale.

movie review

The Host

 I saw 'The Host' last week with my friend at theater. The Host is a movie which is based on the love story from the creator of  'Twilight', Stephenie Meyer. I think this movie is interesting because it is different from other movies on aliens. In most of movies on aliens I have seen, main characters always fought with aliens to defeat them. However, this movie’s theme is coexistence, not fight. The chosen time setting for this movie is future. In the future, the human race has been assimilated by extraterrestrial parasites called ‘Souls’. The heroine, Melanie was captured by souls and infused with a soul called ‘Wanderer’ to discover the location of the last base of non-assimilated humans. However, Melanie didn’t obey and she began to struggle in Wanderer’s head for getting back control of her body. Wanderer saw memories of Melanie, and became sympathetic to her. She visited Melanie’s uncle who lives in the desert escape the vigilance of souls. He is a leader of the non-assimilated humans. Wanderer met Melanie’s younger brother and boyfriend there. At first, Wanderer was kept isolated from other peoples because they thought that she is a spy who stole Melanie’s body. They believed Melanie was dead. However, they begin to believe Melanie is still alive in her body and open their mind to Wanderer. On the other hand, Seeker, one of the leaders of souls, learned that the base is located somewhere in the desert and begins to follow Wanderer.

  In fact, I don't think it is possible to coexist humans and ailens, but in this movie, bond between humans and an ailen is well expressed. I'm happy to see this movie.

 

 

Daechonbeach - my recommendation for every season

          Have you ever heard before about Boryung Mud Festival? or have you ever seen this view in anywhere? Every in summer, Dacheonbeach hold a Mud Festival. when you go there, first your foot will feel some sticky and black soil- that is mud-.



 and that's the signal for exciting Mud Festival. there is a lot of people who want to enjoy that energy of people's. and after that mud shower, You will want to dive into the sea. and that's the most charming merit of this festival. because the mud festival is hold in Daechonbeach, you can enjoy both the festival and fresh water of beach.



and even in winter, unlike other beach, Daechon beach has many things to see and to play.you can eat Roasted shellfish (picture 3) and shellfish has rich sea flavor. and more you chewing them more tasty they are. and near the beach, there are small amusement park so you can enjoy them.(picture 2)

Yeouido - my recommendation

I would like to recommend everyone to visit to Yeouido in yeoungdeungpo-gu, seoul, korea.
This is why I live in yeouido, I chose this place to recommend.

First, there are several parks to relax with nature such as Han River park and Yeouido park.
people can enjoy the beautiful view along the Han River and ride a bike.

The Cherry Blossom Festival

Second, yeouido is very famous for season festivals such as the cherry blossom festival and the seoul international fireworks festival. many people gather to enjoy the festivals every year.

Third, yeouido is also well known for political and financial center in korea.
There are the National Assembly, the Korea Stock Exchange and the broadcasting stations.



Lastly, I personally think yeouido is good place to live in seoul because there is a clean and safe town. Also, it is close to sookmyung women's university so I am comfotable going to school.

Han River is romantic and full of energy!

I recommend to  Han River. I love Hangang Park. There are many people, so very energitic. Han River has been held a lot of exciting festival. International Fireworks Festival has been held annually and soon Cherry Blossom Festival will be held. After the cherry blossoms in full bloom, Yeouido street is very beautiful. In Hangang  Park, young people play game and eat chicken, beer in evening. When you look like this, you feels more freely about Korea. Sometimes, Han River can be lover's event place. Because a night view of the Han River is so beautiful and romantic. So when i depressed, i go to Han River alone or when i want to feel romantic, i go to there with a close friend. If in there the cherry blossoms is full bloom, i want that you go to there.

Suncheon bay-my recommendation

Suncheon bay is one of my favorite places. Suncheon bay is a beautiful place. Suncheon bay is on Jeollanam-Do, which means warm weather and fresh air. When I was a freshman, I went to Suncheon bay with my friend. To visit Suncheon bay, you take the train or the bus. There are many reeds around the trail. Many reeds seem to be painted a green color in the summer. If you visit Suncheon bay in the autumn, you will see reeds in yellow. When you walk along a path with growing reeds, you also see migratory birds and because Suncheon bay is known of habitat for migratory birds. At the close of day, you should walk up in observatory of Suncheon bay. With a cool breeze and opened view, you can see a great spectacle. A flaming sunset is seen far in distance and it shines open on all over Suncheon bay. Suncheon bay will be held an expo this month. So I’m going to the expo with my friend and a tasty food.

 

 

'Makgeolli cafe, the sloth's story' in hyehwa - recommendation

     Makgeolli(막걸리, rice wine) is my favorite drink( but i don't like drink.) so i used to drink it in my home or visit bars to drink. Lately, i visited a bar 'Makgeolli cafe, the sloth's story (막걸리카페, 나무늘보 이야기)' located hyehwa. When i go to the bar, i really want to recommend there to you.

      When you enter the bar, you will feel a little darkness, but you can feel warm, cozy and antique mood because of interior used brown generally. Also blackboard shape menu make charming mood. After you see the menu, you will be concerned about what you eat because they have various makgeolli and foods. I recommend 'Chestnut makgeolli(알밤막걸리)' and 'Pan fried potatoes(감자전)'. Chestnut makgeolli is made with chestnuts so it is light yellow and sweet. Therefore many people ,that don't like makgeolli, can drink it easily. Pan fried potatoes be made with potatoes is yellow and smell aromatic. You can get the pan fried potatoes with soy sauce and honey. If you want to eat a little salty, you dip soy sauce but if you want to sweet and create tasty, you choice honey. Finally, while you drink and eat, you can listen background musics in the 2000s. These musics will remind your school days and you can talk more with your friends.
      I think this bar is very nice to join your friends and lovers. I hope to make happy memories in ''Makgeolli cafe, the sloth's story' during your college and in your life.

grand canyon skywalk -my recommendation

 did you enjoy the thrill? if so, i will recommend to the grand canyon skywalk! the grand canyon skywalk is a transparent horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge. the skywalk is locat
ed as 4,770ft(1,450m) .when you arrived grand canyon, you might afraid steep cliffs. but the scenery is beautiful, maybe quickly will soon be happy. colorful rock shines, cloud will in front of your eyes.  but skywalk is exhilarating than this beautiful scenery. when you arrive on the skywalk, probably you will hear the sound of the heart(terrified of people). but fear is a moment. you will soon enjoy the wind which is tickling your hair and toes. you are ascended on the transparent road, you will see phenomenal scene under your feet. here, you feel like the sky will.if you are adventurous person, i recommended this place! actually when i was 16, i visited skywalk.it was a great time ever. i recommended here beacause of the most memoradle stay in america.

do you like teddybear?

If you love pretty teddybear, I recommend Jeju teddybear museum. It is largest and the first teddybear museum in korea. At the museum entrance, bridgeroom,bridge teddybare welcome to you. You can see various and funny teddybear in the museum. In history exhibition hall, teddybares present 100years history. For example, there are pisplayed teddybare which put flag at the moon. I was interesting masterpiece teddy bear. Because cute teddybares dressed like serious masterpiece looks like comedy. And there are luxury louisvuitton teddybaer which sells for 23millionIn won, and 120k teddybear which made by 120k jewel and precious metal. addition, there are beutiful outside garden. you can see ocean at the garden. Teddybears and wonderful Jeju nature harmonize well.So you can enjoy fantastic teddybare world.

Bankok-my recommendation

The best place that I have been to was a tropical resort in Thailand. The hotel was warm and luxurious. My room over looked the pool that was surrounded by palm trees and perfectly manicured plants. I felt that I was alone in nature, there was no noise from the outside world. I spent my days swimming in the crystal clear pool that seemed to blend in with nature. I would like to go back to Thailand with my friends so that we can enjoy the scenic beauty and tranquility.

California-my recommendation

  
   Remembering the time when i spend time in California makes me smile.
When i graduated from high school, my mom wants me to learn English in America during 4months.
Actually, i didn't want to go America and expect anything. But when i arrived LA airport, i was so impressed by the blazing sunshine and tall trees reminds me of trees in Guam. Their air was hot and humid so i felt like i was in the tropics. Every body wear short clothes and sun-glasses. The sky in California was as clear as can be and the sea around California was always shine like a diamond. The house i stayed during 4months was painted white and two-story house. Around the house, there are a lot of trees looks like tropical tree. Behind the house, there was a swimming pool and little arifical hot springs. Buildings around the extension were painted soft colors like light brown and many roads were wide so many cars can be driven smoothly. In case of market, there was full of fresh fruits and tasty snacks. I was surprised that there was self-scan check out place.

To me, California was really great place to play! If you want to spend vacation in hot places, i recommend you to go California with your short clothes! California make you unforgettable memory.
